The translation of written words into visual details

Rock bandTabletop Moviemaking engages the multiple intelligences of participants by allowing them the freedom to adapt the written word into a visual scene.  Visual, Spatial and Tactile learners excel when it comes time to cut, paste, paint, sketch, glue, tear, rip, and tape their Tabletop worlds together.

Participants  adapt their Tabletop world to match some of the details that emerged from their writing.  There are basic artistic skills such as choosing which colors will represent the characters’ clothing.  More complex art skills are developed as they begin creating scaled props and scenery for their Tabletop movies.

Students will get practical and tactile learning experiences with the concept of Mise en Scene, which describes all the visual  details that make up the scene. These artistic adaptations allow participants to work on their artistic skills as they translate written details into visual details.

The Tabletop Moviemaking method uses a DVD that contains a variety of art lessons the are designed to help support the learner in the building their sets.

The video below is a sample demonstration of how to draw a cartoon face with the methods covered on the DVD and in the guidebook.
